About ToolScout

ToolScout exists for one reason: the AI tools market moves faster than anyone can keep up with, and most "reviews" online are thin, recycled, or quietly paid for. We do the opposite — we use the tools, push them on real tasks, and report what actually happened.

How we test

Every review on this site follows the same process:

• Real tasks, not demos. We run each tool on the jobs people actually buy it for — drafting, refactoring, summarising, automating — not the vendor's cherry-picked examples.
• Side-by-side. No tool is judged in a vacuum. We compare it against the obvious alternatives at the same price.
• We note the deal-breakers. Pricing traps, missing features, privacy concerns, and where a free tool is genuinely good enough.
• We update. AI tools ship changes weekly. When a verdict changes, we change the article and date it.

How we stay independent

We fund the site through display advertising and affiliate links — when you buy a tool through our link, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That never affects a rating. We have recommended free tools over paid affiliate partners many times, and we always will. Vendors cannot pay for a better score, a better position, or a softer review.
